La Mida No Importa/Size doesn't matter” is an international short film festival that presents stories about personal experiences and human relationships through different genres and languages. The Festival has been held since its fifth edition in January. For three days the short films are screened in two emblematic spaces in Barcelona's Raval: the Ateneu del Raval and the Meier Auditorium of the MACBA. The short films, of less than 10 minutes, compete for two prizes, the first prize of €1,000 and the second prize of €500. The festival promotes cultural diversity, with an independent jury from the audiovisual field.
Main features and goals of the crowdfunding campaign
The “La Mida No Importa” festival has several key defining characteristics. Firstly, the short films submitted must be less than 10 minutes long. In terms of content, the festival covers any subject matter, as long as it is not aimed at the sale or commercialization of the audiovisual product. In addition, the screenings are free and open to the public, although the capacity of the available spaces limits the number of attendees. The main objective is to reach a heterogeneous and diverse audience, providing elements of reflection on today's world. The themes of the short films are adapted to each edition, responding to historical moments and social concerns of the present. In each edition, the festival brings to the screen relevant and current issues, encouraging debate and collective reflection.
Why this is important
We are a non-profit association. We mainly want to contribute to strengthen the knowledge and dissemination of audiovisual art and more particularly in the expression of short films in all its genres.
We want our main tool to be the cooperation with other associations, entities, collectives and/or projects of national or international scope, that share our main objective.
When we talk about SLOWCUT we refer to a way of shooting and editing that takes into account a way of understanding audiovisual production far from the demands of commercial imperatives.
When we talk about SLOWCUrT we refer to an audiovisual work that has been conceived to be watched and enjoyed with a certain calmness and attention.
We believe that most important things are not measured in terms of size or breadth or even quantity.
When expressing ideas, expressing art, expressing feelings...or whatever else you can add to this list, the “size factor” is probably less important.
Team and experience
The festival is aimed at a film-loving public, interested in discovering new narrative proposals and willing to be surprised by the versatility of audiovisual creations. Here the content is valued more than the container, offering a platform for innovative projects that invite reflection and discovery. It is a space for those who seek a cinema that provokes, inspires and broadens horizons, beyond commercial standards.
