About this project

We promote ethical AI that reduces inequalities, fosters inclusion, and improves quality of life through impactful partnerships.

Needs Altyapı Minimum Optimum
Capital of Constitution
To establish the OdiseIA4Good Foundation, we need to raise a minimum capital of €30,000 (required by law), which is essential to activate a solid, transparent legal and operational structure aimed at generating real social impact from day one. This capital will be used for legal incorporation and regulatory compliance, the implementation of basic infrastructure (management, technology and auditing), the development of the first pilot projects in areas such as health, education and employment, and the creation of ethical and methodological frameworks that guarantee the responsible use of AI. Each contribution does not cover an expense, but rather builds the foundations of an organisation prepared to promote ethical, inclusive artificial intelligence that serves the common good.

General information

The OdiseIA4Good Foundation will promote artificial intelligence with real social impact, capable of transforming lives and addressing the major challenges facing our society. It will develop innovative, ethical, and inclusive technological solutions that place AI at the service of the common good, anticipating risks and protecting human rights.

Our mission is to develop and implement AI solutions that transform lives and generate positive and sustainable social impact, putting technology at the service of solving major challenges such as poverty, health, education, and equity. From a critical and responsible perspective, we promote research to anticipate and prevent potential negative impacts arising from the evolution of AI, actively collaborating with public and private institutions to propose practical and realistic policies that guide social change and ensure the ethical, inclusive, and beneficial use of this technology.

In concrete terms, how does this translate into real life? It means, for example, equipping a doctor in a public hospital with clinical decision-support systems that transparently integrate data, explain their recommendations, and prioritize patients according to clinical criteria rather than economic ones—reducing diagnostic times and preventing avoidable errors. It also means protecting a young person during an automated recruitment process by auditing algorithms to detect and correct biases related to origin, gender, or socioeconomic context, ensuring evaluations based on real competencies rather than historically discriminatory patterns. This is the gap the Foundation aims to address: turning AI into an infrastructure for equity, efficiency, and public trust, rather than an amplifier of inequalities.

Why this is important

We are driving real social change and raising the bar in terms of the design and use of AI, ensuring that its benefits are distributed fairly, equitably and sustainably throughout society. We are achieving this by creating alliances with public and private entities and universities, both nationally and internationally. The impact is tangible: greater digital inclusion, ethical technology and a direct improvement in the quality of life of those who need it most.

The OdiseIA4Good Foundation was created to bring together all those individuals, companies and organisations that understand that artificial intelligence is not just a technological tool, but a collective responsibility. We invite those who believe that progress should also be measured in terms of social justice, digital inclusion and sustainability to join a collaborative ecosystem that transforms values into action and purpose into real impact. Joining OdiseIA4Good means committing to AI that is designed ethically, applied judiciously and aimed at tangibly improving people's quality of life, building alliances that expand opportunities and ensure that innovation reaches the whole of society in a fair and equitable manner.

Team and experience

This initiative stems from Spain’s largest independent, non-profit association linked to AI ethics: OdiseIA – the Observatory on the Social and Ethical Impact of Artificial Intelligence.

What have we already achieved through OdiseIA?

Launch of the cAIre Project with Google.org: Researching and promoting the fair and ethical use of AI to benefit and protect vulnerable groups, including the first international hackathon focused on developing concrete solutions to their challenges.
Recognition by UNESCO as a CSO: Recognized as a Civil Society Organization (CSO) for AI Ethics and the Academic Network on AI Ethics and Policy by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Implementation of Spain’s National AI Strategy (ENIA) with SEDIA: Project to define the processes of the Spanish Agency for the Supervision of Artificial Intelligence (AESIA) and the design and implementation of the AI Act Sandbox under the administrative framework of the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.
The 10 Best AI Initiatives with Ethical Impact: A commitment to social innovation in collaboration with Telefónica and Compromiso Empresarial, recognizing the ten best AI initiatives with social and ethical impact.
Joint reports with leading organizations: Creation and development of reports in collaboration with entities such as INDESIA, the Ministry of Culture, Moeve (Cepsa), and many others, always focusing on the ethical use of AI and data.
Specialized training in AI: OdiseIA has delivered AI training modules for the Ciberwall Academy (Spanish National Police), the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), Fundación Telefónica, the Ministry of Finance, and SEDIA (Government of Spain).
Evaluation of AI use in the COMMANDs and HYDEF projects: OdiseIA collaborates in research projects funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF), providing advisory support on the ethical impact of artificial intelligence in the military sector.
Launch of the GuIA Project: A collaborative process that resulted in the creation of a tailored guide for each sector, outlining best ethical and responsible practices in AI.

We are supported by a network of more than 500 tech experts. Leading the Foundation and the Observatory are Dr. Idoia Salazar and Dr. Richard Benjamins, together with the full Board of Directors.

Idoia Ana Salazar – President of OdiseIA

Idoia Salazar, PhD, is a globally recognized authority in AI ethics and governance, founder and president of OdiseIA, expert advisor to the Artificial Intelligence Observatory of the European Parliament, and an active participant in World Economic Forum AI initiatives, including the AI Governance Alliance Community Meeting and the Global Technology Retreat in San Francisco.

A full professor at CEU San Pablo University, she leads the ENIA International Public Chair on Generative AI and guides the development of Spain’s AI Regulatory Sandbox and the National AI Certification Seal. She is the author of four books on the social impact of artificial intelligence and has collaborated with global academic and policy platforms such as UNESCO’s Women4Ethical AI, the Global AI Ethics Consortium, and the journal AI and Ethics.

On May 6, 2025, she addressed the Spanish Senate—specifically the Committee on Science, Innovation and Universities—presenting expert testimony on the social importance of AI and governance frameworks during a parliamentary session.

Richard Benjamins – CEO of OdiseIA

Richard Benjamins, PhD, is an internationally renowned AI expert and thought leader in ethics. He previously served as Telefónica’s Chief AI Officer and founded the company’s “AI for Society and Environment” initiative.

He is co-founder and CEO of OdiseIA and serves as an external expert for the Artificial Intelligence Observatory of the European Parliament. He is also a member of the advisory board of the Center for Digital Culture at the Vatican, where he acts as a trusted advisor on AI governance, and he actively collaborates with global ethics platforms such as the MIT Sloan Responsible AI panel and UNESCO’s AI Business Council.

Holding a PhD in Cognitive Science and author of more than 150 scientific publications, he has written influential works such as The Myth of the Algorithm and A Data-Driven Company. He regularly participates in global forums on AI policy, digital trust, and technological inclusion. His advisory role at the Vatican reflects his commitment to aligning digital innovation with human dignity and moral values.
